Jemma Kid

 So, where I live a TK MAXX has recently opened and I went in to check it out today and found this product. I love it.. It's like the perfect little kit and it's Jemma Kid! I've wanted to try Jemma Kid for so long and now I have the chance. The RRP for this was £17.00 (or that's what TK MAXX says) and I got it for £7.99.

So in this kit you get two shadows, a black glitter liner and two glosses.

 It has a little mirror on the top hald of the pack and then it has some 'instructions' on what to do with the palette.

The two shadows are the perfect colour. You get a beige colour and a dark brown colour. I would do swatches but my camera is rubbish and the swatches do not show up real to colour.  I can get an everyday eye look out of these two colours and it looks nice.

The liner is not that great. It pulls my skin when I try to put it on and it's not very soft when you do apply it. I don't really use black liner so it's not a great loss. The two glosses are really nice. They are great colours. As you can see from the image below I messed up one of them. I thought they would be harder than they are. They are really soft glosses, maybe a little to soft. I dont really know that i'll use the glosses that much because I dont really want to take this thing for me during the day.
  

Overall I like this, even if it's just for the shadows. I think you get a good sized shadow and glosses are nice even if I wont get that much use out of them. The products, bar the liner, are good quality and it has made me consider looking into more Jemma Kid cosmetics.

MUA Professional

MUA have somewhat recently launched the professional line. It has some really great items in it (I have yet to try them all but it's my mission for now). I have picked up some things and some are brilliant and some are okay. There isn't anything bad in it to be honest. It's a bit more expensive than the £1 line but the quality if just that little but higher and there are brilliant ideas in the line. As far as I know there are two mascaras (curling and volumizing - dont quote me), a eyeliner felt tip, some eyeshadow trios, some eyeshadow palette, nail quakes (shatter polishes). That is what is stocked in my superdrug, I think in bigger stores they have a mosaic blush (I think there is a bronzer too). I really want to say they have liquid foundation but I'm not sure at all. They also have metalic eyeshadows but I'm clueless about them.

So I have picked up the curling masacra, the primer, the Heaven and Earth Palette and a trio (I have no idea what the name is). I got the curling mascara in brown (or brown-black), the heaven and earth palette is a collection of browns and neutrals and the trio I have is also two browns and a ivory(ish) highlight colour. I want to say innocene but I could just be thinking random words right now.

I love love love love love what I have so far, bar the mascara. The masacara is good, don't get me wrong, but I just find it super hard to use the curved wand without getting it on every single but of my eye. It's just me, I'm a bit useless with things like that. The packaging really reminds me of the Loreal Lash Archietect (spelling is so not my thing) D mascara. I think it's one of the newest mascara's from Loreal. In fact when I picked it up I thought someone had dumped it on the stand and it was in the wrong place. The product itself isn't really compariable but the packaging is super super super similar.
 

The primer is good, I can't say that it's the best I've ever had (GOSH primer is the best by the way) but it most certainly not the worst (no7 Shine free primer is the worst). It's creamy unlike the gosh one and runny unlike the no 7 one. It's kind of what I wanted the no 7 primer to be like. If I had to compare it to any primer I would say it's the Witch blemish fighting primer (the name is something like that). It dont test it out for lenght of wear with other primers but it kept my make up on just fine through out the day. It's super good and I would recommend it to any one. It was also only £4.00 which is considerably cheaper than the GOSH primer at £13.99 and the No7 primer at £11.00 (I did get it for £6 with the voucher they give out to eveyone).

I think that this primer is the only thing that hasn't sold out stupidly on the MUA professional stand I just can't understand why. It's a good price and it's a good product. People, sort it out and go buy this! It's worth it (or it is to me). The MUA professional stand in my superdrug it some silly cardboard thing that needs to be replaced and I wish it was bigger and stocked more things like the blush and things like that. The stand is always empty because of the brilliant quality and the small stand and the amazing price.

I'm going to do a whole seperate post on the Heaven and Earth palette because it's that freaking awesome. Enough said for now.

The trio is what I reach for every single day. It's had the three perfect colours for everyday and they can be made more intense by using them wet (they look soo good when they are applied wet). They are very very shimmery but when they are blended nicely and applied in moderation they work for school/work/everyday. I love love love love this. This is my second fave MUA professional product that I have. The palette being the first, then the primer, then the mascara. The trio's are really compariable to the Boujouis Trio's accept I think they are much better (in quality and price). I have one of the Boujouis Trio's and I hate it. I love the colours it just dont think  the colour pay off is good and I find it really hard to work with.

I no this range ins't avaliable world wide but if you can get your hands on it, do it right now! (well wait till the shops open)

Sleek Nude Collection

 

I recently purchased the nude collection from Sleek Makeup at my local superdrug store. I think the offer was something to do with the new Beauty Card that they have launced so effectivly you do save a little money. The collection looks amazing!!! It's all the colours I love and all the colours that most people would wear for that everyday work/school/wearable look. Sleek it a great line and the shadows are known for their amazing quality. This collection isn't any different. The quality if still there and I love it. LOVE IT! Most of the swatches come up ture to colour and there is a good range from light to dark colours that most people can make work for them. I have swatched every colour in the Nude palette and the blush (I believe it's called Suede). This blush works so well for me and I think it would work well for most people. The packaging is mostly the same as others from the Sleek line. There is a difference in the blush packaging but not much difference. It just stands out as a limited edition rather than a permenant line. So here are my pics that I managed to take. Once again, most of the colours do show up true to reality.

 I also purchased a pout polish but it seem pointless to show you. It appears nude in the packaging but just looks like a clear gloss on the lips. It's called Bare Minimum and it really in the minimum. You can't see a colour at all on the lips.

HAUL - Oh my... ELF!

So, when ELF had there 50% sale a week or so ago I put in an order for some bits that I wanted and was planning to order anyways. It was just a bonus that I got the items half price.


Here ELF haul for you all. They are kind of random products and don't real go together but they are super good from what I can tell so far.

1) Cream eyeshadow duo in Sugar Cookie
From my quick swatches and one use of this product it seems okay. It's not the most pigmented colour in the world but it's ont to bad. I tried to use it as a base for powder shaodws but it's not go either. It makes the powder shadows stick to it and it creases super easily. The powder doesnt spead evenly because the product is so sticky. I would say that this would be good for a quick sweep of colour but not much more than that to be compeltly honest.

 2) Studio Bronzer - Warm bronzer
I haven't used this yet on my face but I have done swatches of the individual colours and the mix of colours. They come out quite pigmented when swatched so that seems like a good sign. I can't really way much more on it than that.

 

3) Brightening Eye Colour Quad - Ethereal 

This is a good quad for the price. I really do like it and would pay more for it if it was in a different brand for a more expensive price. The four colours aren't really what I wanted and they looked a lot different on the site but I should know by now that internet swatches are never true to the colour. You get an ivory colour which I assume is a highlight colour. You get an orange and pink colour that I cant really use because they dont suit my skin tone and you get a brown colour that I love. The only problem I can think of with this is the size of the product. The eyeshadow pans are really small and an awkward shape to get a good amount of product on the brush. It probably would have been ok with the sponge applicator that came free with it but I cannot use the sponge applicators so I never tried it.

 

 4) Daily Brush Cleanser: 

I have yet to try this product so comments about how well it works cannot be made yet but I must say that I was shocked with the size when it turned up. I was expecting something much smaller considering all the other elf products that I've brought. Normally the items turn up much smaller in size than I expected but then again for £1.50 or £3.00 you cant really expect to get the biggest products. You get 250 ml of prodcut and I was expecting the bottle to be the size of the setting mist that ELF sell which is 60 ml.

 5) ELF professional fan brush
I haven't used this brush to apply make up yet but it feels nice when you feel it. (if that makes sense). It's clearly synthetic but it's still soft and I'd be happy to use it on the face without hesitation. I'm not entirly sure what I would use the brush for but the packages say that the unique shape blends away mistakes, and that it dusts, wipes and contours powders. It also says that it can be used to create a soft wash of colour over the cheeks and to apply a touch of loose powder to cover shine. It's also states that it's a blending aid. The packaging makes it sound very diverse but the jury is still out on this brush.

 6) ELF professional Blending Eye Brush
I brought this as a replacement for my old blending brush (the same brush from ELF) because the top metal section broken off the end. I had planned to glue it back together but ditzy me lost the handle.  The first brush I had was brilliant and that's why I brought the same brush again but, having not used it yet, I can say that this one is not as good as the other one. It's sheading like mad and the other one didn't and I can already feel the top losening so glueing will occur very soon. The packaging says that the brush "expertly" blends multiple eye shades while softening dramatic and fine lines. It says that it can also be used to set powder or with liquid concealer.

 7) Therapeutic Conditioning Balm - Orange Creme
I've tired this once and it felt soooo good on my lips. It smells amazing and the colour doesnt transfer so it looks good too. If you have some driness under the lips you won't look like a complete idiot with a colour under you lips. It suggests using it at bed time for the best results so I will try that and see if it makes a difference but I will definatly be keeping this in my bag to use in the day. And I have to mention  it again but the smell is soo good. It kinda makes my mouth water.

 8) ELF Kabuki Brush
The box doesn't state what kabuki brush this is but I think it's the mineral brush and the face edition rather than the body one. I haven't used this yet so I can't say much but it is sheding a little and the top is uneven. It feels okay on the skin and I'm sure it will do it's job. It's said that it can provide light to full coverage. The compact size is meant to be helpful for precise and controlled application for blush, bronzer, powder and highlighter.

 9) Studio Cream Eyeliner - Ivory
The pot for this is oversized for the amount of prodcut that you get but from what I've read many ELF products are like that. The colour it's self is good. It wasn't what I expected but it's nice and I can definatly work with it. It's more shimmery than I expected but I like it and I'm glad it's got a shimmer. You do get a small brush with it and the brush is good. I almost never use the free brushes but I will definatly keep the brush and use it with the liner.

 

The above pictures are the liner and you can see the oversized packaging and the picture below is the free angled brush that you get with the liner. It's good. The only problem I can foresee with this would be that it might be awkward to use because it's so small (short). 

10) ELF professional smudge eye sponge
I haven't used this but i can't see much going wrong with it because it's not got bristles or anything like that. I got this because i used to have an eye liner that had one of these sponges on the end and it was a great tool to have. W wanted something more permenant and i can finally through the stubby little eye liner away now. Whoop!

 11) Natural Eyeshadow Palette
This palette looked amazing on the site. It had all the colour that I wear everyday and it came true to the colour, I think. It was what I expected anyways. The packaging is hard (I mean epically hard) to open. For that reason i may not reach for it as much as the other palette that I brought this week. I would so swatches but my camera is awful and wouldn't give you a true idea of the colours. You do get a free brush and I will keep it because it's finally not a sponge. Its not the best, nor is it the worse.

12) Zit Zapper
I haven't used it and there isn't much to say about it but I have high hopes just because it seems to always be out of stock and that must mean that it's popular.

Sleek Original Palette Review

After much convincing from reviews that I have read, I have invested in my first Sleek Eye Shadow Palette. I choose the original palette, appropriately called The Original (Number 594). The Sleek Palettes are mineral based eye shadows and each contains 12 colours. The shadows, unlike M.A.C colours, are not named and there are some doubles in the palettes but it’s not to repetitive. The outer packaging of the is very sleekly, with most of the black plastic in a matt finish and the name “Sleek Make Up” has a shiny finish.

The original palette contains very generic colours that should be owned by any make up lover. It contains black, purple, blues, greens, browns, pinks and yellowy cream all of which have a shimmer (or pearl) finish. They are all highly pigmented and have a brilliant colour pay off when applied to the skin. I found that for the best results and all day long look it’s best to use a primer but I would use a primer with any shadow, no matter what brand I use. A great suggestion for a primer would be the eye primer but George at Asda or the Gosh primers. The palette comes with a duo ended sponge applicator and a mirror in the lid. It’s defiantly a brilliant selection for those on the go because it’s reasonable small and it has the mirror and brush to help with touch ups.

The look of the colours can be seen below in the two images of the swatches that I made. As you can see, they have a nice colour pay off and the images was taken after one brush of the colour. Using a brush, rather than sponge applicator gives a slightly less intense effect but gives a more every day look.

The pale yellow and two pale pinks are very shimmery and are very light but they would give a great addition to any look and also look great alone for a slightly glam work look. The black is hard to work with just because of the intensity of the colour but when used well, it’s a fabulous colour. The colours are grouped well in the palette so it’s easy to tell which colours go best with one another.
I would defiantly spend more time and money on the sleek palette because of the excellent pigmentation of the shadows and the lasting finish that they give when applied to the skin. I think my next investment would be the storm palette, because of the colours it contains. The Acid palette looks amazing and would be brilliant for any neon lovers out there.
